south boston, virginia South Boston Police shot and killed a pit bull early Friday morning, while serving a warrant.
Officers say they got a call around midnight about 20 year old Joseph C. Whittington III.
Neighbors said he was pointing a gun at someone and firing shots.
It happened in the 1300 block of Shepherd Street. No one was hurt.
Officers surrounded his house and arrested him, but in the process of getting to him, they say one of Whittington's dogs charged an officer. The officer then shot and killed the dog.
Whittington is in jail without bond.
